Default fires

I am getting totally annoyed by the amount of fires that my city has, I have fire hydrants all over and they still have fires and they almost always want 30 beams to repair!!! one last night made me pay 10 bricks!!!! this is ridiculous!! it takes me an hour to make these beams and then they get sucked up by the fires, right now I have 4 properties that need a total of 90 beams!!! does anyone know how to stop these fires......also I never have enough education points to upgrade my ppl so sometimes I have to just let the fire burn until I can get enough to upgrade one of my ppl!! I s this just another part of the game? if so I am not liking it!! HELP!!! any helpful suggestions will be appreciated:-)

Unfortunatelly the Emergencies canot be stopped once you activated Emergency System. All you can do is to build enough houses with students (and make sure their needs are satisfied), upgrade your firestation, police and hospital to have more personel, and hope to get your response team to good enough shape to succesfully deal with most emergencies. Also having enough production facilities (lumber mills and brickyards) at level 3 might help you out.

Another idea is not to send your personel to emergencies with a very low chance of succes, where you would most probably have to pay repairs anyway, which will help you save the contracts. Training just basic rookis without any upgrade and only extending their contracts once or twice will also help you lower your EP needs until you have enough.

Another idea along these lines is tha fact, that you do not have to repair powerplants for them to work. I basicly use them as a bite. When they get a high repair cost i just demolish and build again. Generally, powerplants do not need to be cowered by ERS stuff, which gives you chance to increase a bit your coverage for other buldings.

Thoughtful combination of above mantioned will help you out of the mess.

Another option is to start a new city and never activate the ERS system.

What I do in my ERS city, I keep the four lowest level houses without an upgrade and when I get 15 and 30 logs or 10 bricks repairs I just demolish them and build again, cause it is cheaper for these. Only repair more expensive houses.

Are you responding to the fires with whatever personnel you have available?

You will find that your responders gain experience points each time they go to an emergency, even if they are not successful. Each time they "level up", there is a chance that you might be granted a specialist. Even if you don't get a specialist, you will be given extra training points that you can increase their skill level with.

Success on emergencies is influenced by the following factors:
  1. the level of protection on the building (red, yellow or green) - this is the most important factor
  2. the correct department responders - fire, hospital, police
  3. the specialists, if you have them.

Even if the calculated chance is low for success, you might still be successful at the emergency. It is somewhat randomized. And even if unsuccessful, your responders get the experience for leveling up.

It is definitely frustrating to get going, but it is a certainty that you can get no where if you don't keep sending those responders out.

Hope that helps.

PS - to clarify, you can send any department personnel in place of a specialist that you don't have and increase chance of success.

i.e. fire rookie for engineer; captain for officer; hospital rookie for medic.

However, you can't send a different dept - it won't increase your chance for success.

i.e. hospital rookie for engineer

Default FIRES, Safety portion in General

I too am getting tired of so many emergencies. I also am tired of loosing so many calls and it is costing me way too much. Always asking for more people than what I have. I found it is best just to ignore the call and pay the price with out using up my peoples time. Just plain not happy with this portion of the game. Also, because I loose more emergency calls that I win, it will take months to earn Bronze metals to up grade. I have been thinking seriously about quitting the game.

You can start a new city without ERS Sometimes it is not easy to cope with ERS. I earned my bronze medals quite easily for quite early I focussed on getting them. Trained as many folks as I could to get two bronze medals and left the rest just plain rookies without spending EP on them in Academy, to fill the rest of places. Since I did that early, It was quite easy since at that time most of my emergencies were one or two people.
